Anne is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, ESDM certified direct service delivery therapist and a former special education teacher. Anne has worked in the field of ABA since 2000, with infants through adults, in a variety of settings. Anne’s professional passions include individualized assessment, effective naturalistic therapy and parent/caregiver coaching. She is proficient in American Sign Language and Bulgarian.

Dr. Sena Harjo is a Seminole, Choctaw and Creek woman who is passionate about her community and is dedicated to improving the outcomes of children and families for many generations to come. She guides the Tribal Engagement Work at the CDEC as Tribal Liaison and Community Engagement Lead. Harjo pulls from her early childhood expertise and her Tribal lived experiences to expand the support system of Tribal resources dedicated to young American Indian and Alaska Native families in the state of Colorado. She contributes to her communities because she recognizes that healthy equity work such as early childhood initiatives require a connected network of passionate folks who are committed to healthy families from pregnancy and beyond. She has worked in education for upwards of 20 years and for the last 14 plus years she has focused on early childhood education. Dr. Harjo is dedicated to access, opportunities and justice for historically marginalized communities in all arenas. She is a mother of 3 and values any time spent with her family or participating in her Tribal practices.

Robin is an experienced early childhood professional with roles spanning FFN provider, teacher, director, coach, consultant, adult educator, author, and social-emotional development specialist. She previously served as Pyramid Certification Coordinator at the Pyramid Plus Center, University of Colorado Denver, and is one of Colorado’s few Gold Star TPOT and TPITOS Reliability Trainers. A Buell Fellow with a master’s from DU, Robin has been published in Exchange Magazine. As Director of Social and Emotional Wellbeing, she leads statewide efforts to expand and sustain the Pyramid Model and ECMHC in early childhood settings across Colorado.

Christine has been a physical therapist for 24 years. She has specialized in pediatrics and Early Intervention for the past twelve years. Over that time she has worked in early childhood classrooms as well as receiving her Infant Mental Health Endorsement. In 2020, she earned her 200 YTT certificate and went on to teach an after school yoga class to elementary students known as Y.E.S. Yoga - Yoga for Every Student.

Jessica Lane is an early childhood practitioner, trainer, and instructional designer with 15 years of experience in the field. She currently serves as a Learning Design and Innovation Specialist, creating research-based resources aligned with early childhood best practices. She holds a Master’s in Early Childhood Education and is pursuing an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Virginia. Over the course of her career, she has served as a teacher, instructional coach, and professional development facilitator, and has presented at national and regional conferences. Her work reflects a strong commitment to developmentally appropriate practice and continuous improvement in early childhood education.

Maegan Lokteff has spent nearly 30 years working with children and families as an early childhood teacher, administrator, and case manager in for-profit and non-profit organizations. After completing her PhD Family and Human Development from Utah State University, Maegan entered Colorado’s Early Childhood Council system, first as the Executive Director for Grand Beginnings and now as the Executive Director for the Early Childhood Council Leadership Alliance. She has taught courses on development, theories, curriculum, and administration. Her research has focused on early care and education policy and quality improvement in infant and toddler care.

Gabrielle Gutierrez is an Environmental Protection Specialist at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in the Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability. Her area of expertise is in the health and sanitation of schools and child care facilities. Gabrielle has a Masters of Science in Epidemiology and is also Certified in Public Health.

Greg McConnel is an Environmental Protection Specialist at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in the Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability. Greg has worked for CDPHE since 2011 and is passionate about children's environmental health issues. He has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from Colorado State University.

Lucy Davis has 45 years experience in for-profit, non-profit and education in various roles including mid-level manager, business owner, teacher, assistant principal, principal, child care director, university instructor, and school district administrator. Lucy has been a Business Services coach for over 6 years at the Denver Early Childhood Council and does skilled business consultation in ECE state-wide.

Dora has worked in Early Childhood Education for over 20 years. Her previous position was at Warren Village for nine years, where she worked as a Community and Funding Specialist. Dora has a long history of CCAP work and has chaired the Denver CCAP Collaborative (formerly known as the Child Care Task Force) in the Denver community for more than nine years. Dora utilizes a relationship-based approach to build effective bonds with child care providers to help them grow their businesses. She helps providers develop strong business practices that work for them and values meeting everyone where they are. She has a master’s degree in Business Administration, as well as graduate degrees in Psychology, Project Management, Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, and Nonprofit Management. Her personal values include: authenticity, compassion, humor, justice, openness, respect, service, and fun! Dora finds passion in helping people make progress on the goals that matter to them and understands the passion that people have for their own businesses and programs.

I am an early childhood educator and instructional coach with 15 years of experience in the field. I have taught in both private and public schools, with children aged 18 months to 8 years. I’ve also interviewed, trained, coached and supervised adults in the early childhood classroom for four years as a Coaching Specialist with AmeriCorps’ Early Learning Corps and Reading Corps Programs, and supported early educators as a curriculum coordinator and reflective consultation coach. My background as a teacher, parent, and coach gives me a unique perspective on early childhood development as well as adult learning styles. I am Colorado raised and passionate about supporting our state’s youngest learners and their dedicated educators!

Denise Sidney, Ed.D. has devoted over 40 years to advancing Early Childhood Education (ECE). She holds a B.A. and M.Ed. in Early Childhood Development and Leadership, along with a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership in Higher Education. Her career spans diverse leadership and instructional roles in California before relocating to Nevada in 2013. Currently, Denise is a tenured ECE Professor at the College of Southern Nevada and serves as Director of Early Childhood Programming.As a trainer, she presents on ECE and leadership topics across local, state, and national platforms. Denise is an approved Nevada Registry trainer and a dedicated leader within the Nevada Association for the Education of Young Children (NevAEYC), where she chairs the Professional Development Committee and serves as VP of Education Development, She is also an active member of CSN’s Professional Development Team, committed to elevating quality standards and fostering the growth of ECE professionals.

Mary Regan, M.Ed. brings over 20 years of experience in the field of education, with a strong focus on early childhood. She holds a B.A. in Education and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. Throughout her career, Mary has held diverse roles in private, public, nonprofit, and for-profit early childhood settings, giving her a broad perspective on the needs of children, families, and educators. Currently, she serves as Executive Director for the College of Southern Nevada’s lab school programs, providing leadership and oversight for both campuses. Mary is actively involved in the Nevada Association for the Education of Young Children (NevAEYC), serving on the state board and as Finance Committee Chair for the Southern Nevada Chapter. She regularly provides professional development workshops for childcare providers of all types and has presented at both state and local NevAEYC conferences. Mary is also a frequent attendee at national NAEYC conferences, staying connected to best practices and innovations in the field.

Dr. Nicole Crain-Girten has over 30 years teaching in Northern Colorado. She has been a classroom teacher, instructional coach, social emotional facilitator, and Child Find and ECSE lead. She holds an Educational Doctorate with an emphasis in Social Emotional Learning, a Master's in Early Childhood Special Education, and a Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language. Her areas of expertise include trauma informed practices, social emotional learning strategies, and behavior management.

Bry Aiken, M.Ed., is the Children’s Services Coordinator at Southern Colorado Developmental Disabilities Services, where she leads a range of programs supporting infants, toddlers, and their families in rural communities. With a background in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, Bry has extensive experience as a developmental interventionist, service coordinator, and trainer. In her current role, Bry oversees Early Intervention services, inclusive playgroups, family workshops, and cross-system collaborations with local councils and community partners. She has developed numerous tools, policies, and trainings to strengthen provider practice and ensure high-quality supports for children with developmental delays or disabilities.

Cecilia Quintanilla was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and is currently an early childhood educator in Denver, Colorado. She is the founder and president of YBNeuro, an organization that supports neurodivergent students and their families in several countries, and she also leads the Denver Association for Gifted and Talented, along with other community initiatives that strengthen her work in advancing educational equity. With extensive experience facilitating workshops for early childhood teachers and caregivers across the state of Colorado, Cecilia combines her artistic and educational background to provide practical and culturally relevant tools that support children’s learning and social-emotional development.

Liliana Velásquez Del Valle was born in Cali, Colombia, and is currently an early childhood educator in Denver, Colorado. She works with Mile High Early Learning as a facilitator of CDA credential courses, supporting and empowering educators to strengthen the quality of early childhood care. She holds the Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 Level 3 and the Large Center Director Credential, and is pursuing the Trainer Credential through Colorado’s PDIS system to expand her skills and better serve her community, especially those who face barriers to professional development. With a professional philosophy rooted in empathy, commitment, adaptability, and continuous growth, Liliana believes that every educator has the power to transform, that adult learning is key to change, and that work in early childhood shapes healthier, more compassionate, and capable generations.

She is passionate, dedicated, and committed to advocating for the identification and programming of gifted and talented students in underrepresented populations, and with multiple exceptionalities. Alesandra is an avid Montessorian; she is active in the community participating and presenting in Gifted and Talented conferences and is a board member for the Colorado Academy for Educators of the Gifted, Talented, and Creative. My name is Marketa Raevsky, and I am a visiting faculty member in the Education and French Departments at Colorado College, a Montessori-trained EC educator, and a doctoral student in ECE at East Tennessee State University. My research interests revolve around language development, emergent literacy, bilingualism, and foreign language instruction in ECE. I am currently most interested in studying how to promote appreciation and normalization of language(s) other than English in ECE classrooms. In my free time, I love to rock climb, run, hike, rollerblade, and adventure outdoors with my husband and two young children (1 and 3 years old).

Colleen Schmit has spent 25 years in early childhood education as a teacher, consultant, program evaluator, and speaker. At the heart of her career is a deep commitment to serving children from birth through age five and supporting the families who love them. She is the author of Crisscross Applesauce and Shut the Hell Up: 10 Reflective Lessons for New and Seasoned Teachers and The Burn Book: 8 Key Strategies to Recognize and Extinguish Teacher Burnout. Colleen is passionate about sharing what authentic self-care looks like—rooted in self-love rather than quick fixes. When she’s not working with educators, Colleen and her husband, Bob, can be found hanging out with their four kids and enjoying plenty of pizza nights.

Merritt Martin is a passionate Early Childhood Educator and dynamic presenter with over two decades of experience working with young children and the adults who support them. As someone with learning disabilities, Merritt brings a deeply personal and empathetic perspective to her work, helping educators create inclusive environments where all learners can thrive through play, creativity, and social-emotional development. In addition to her educational expertise, Merritt draws from a unique background in magic and performance, adding a creative and engaging dimension to her presentations. She has spoken at conferences and workshops across the country, sharing her multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning. Merritt’s sessions are known for combining real-world experience with practical strategies that educators can immediately apply in their classrooms.

I started in the Early Childhood field 30 years ago. During that time, I worked by way through all ages as an assistant teacher and lead teacher (Infants through Kindergarten). I then became an Assistant Director and moved my way to become a Director and Regional Director. I worked for corporate facilities as well as independently owned programs. During that time I was also a Juvenile Probation Office for 4 years. I then took a little turn in my career and became a Coach at the Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council. There I created a Business Development program for facilities and was also a coach to support teachers and staff on ECERS and ITERS. During my time at the Council, the Council was awarded a Licensing grant and I transitioned into Licensing almost 10 years ago. I was promoted to a Lead Licensing Specialist while working with the Licensing contract IREE. My most current position is I moved to the State as a Specialist 7 years ago and have since then been promoted to a Supervisor. I am a mom of two beautiful teenagers that keep me very busy and recently started at the University of Arizona. I love to travel with my husband and our rule is to never travel to the same place twice, we want to experience as much of the world as we can. We have 3 little Malshi puppies who we absolutely adore.

Danielle French is the Training Coordinator for the Early Intervention Program in the Colorado Department of Early Childhood. In this role, she supports Early Intervention Service Coordinators and EI Coordinators through training and technical assistance. She has always had a passion for supporting children and families which led her to get her Master's in Applied Developmental Psychology. Danielle started her Early Intervention career at the local level as a service coordinator, became a lead service coordinator and is now excited to be a part of the state team.

Rachel Karas is the Provider Training Coordinator for the Early Intervention Program in the Colorado Department of Early Childhood. In this role, she supports Early Intervention Providers through training and technical assistance. She was previously a speech language pathologist working in early intervention and early childhood.

Dr. Nadene Klein, Ed.D., has been a professional educator, classroom teacher, and consultant for over 28 years.  Her focus includes using a growth mindset to develop life-long learners, social-emotional learning, and equity for all.  She currently teaches at-risk youth in an alternative high school in Colorado.  At the same, Dr. Klein serves as the President of the Board of Directors of You Be You Early Learning.

Jenny Lerner has worked for the Colorado Department of Education for 5 years as an Early Learning Senior Consultant for the Office of Migrant Education. She is responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships that enhance the opportunities for migrant early learners. She leads the state's early learning program and has more than 35 years of experience working for Migrant, National, Regional, and local Head Start programs.

Alyssa Fryer is the Director at Hope Montessori Academy in Westminster. She began working in early childhood in 2002 primarily children from birth to three years of age. Alyssa is Montessori certified in Infant/Toddlers and is a former Pyramid Plus trainer.

Helen has been a speech-language pathologist for 40+ years. She is a certified ESDM provider and Hanen certified, and has extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Helen's work has taken her across the US, Europe and Africa, to work with children, professionals, and families who are creating authentic relationships and joy for speaking and non-speaking communicators

Gail Sonnesyn is the founder of Indigo Breath and Wellness, Inc., a published children’s book author, and a seasoned educator with more than 20 years of experience in teaching, school administrating and leading professional development. Her book, Soma Finds His Rhythm, helps children and adults explore the power of breath, movement, and connection as pathways to emotional well-being. Throughout her career, Gail has worked with students, educators, and families to strengthen resilience, foster curiosity, and create supportive learning environments. She bridges her deep understanding of early childhood education with her expertise as a certified trauma-informed breathwork practitioner and functional breathing coach. Her interactive approach equips educators with practical tools to regulate stress, build classroom calm, and support the social-emotional needs of both children and adults. Gail holds a B.S. in Finance and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado, along with certifications in the BioDynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System® and Oxygen Advantage® Functional Breathing. She is passionate about helping educators and communities by embracing practices that cultivate balance, connection, resilience, and joy.

Katherine Rains, J.D. is a certified conflict engagement facilitator, mediator, trainer, and coach with nearly 20 years of experience working in Colorado’s education systems. She has consulted with public schools and non-profits on a variety of projects, including new school planning, program design, conflict engagement, training, and coaching. As a founding member of the Colorado Department of Education’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Project, she has been providing special education meeting facilitation, training, and coaching to stakeholders since 2017 to improve family engagement in IEP meetings and outcomes for students with disabilities. Katherine was a founding committee member and board chair of a metro-Denver charter school and past co-chair of the Colorado Special Education Advisory Committee. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Michigan State University in 1998 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2005.

Erin Camper is a mother to a child with an ultra rare genetic condition who requires significant support related to his multiple diagnoses, as well as two teen daughters. Erin has served as a Parent Advisor at Peak Parent Center since February, 2023. Erin is also a Registered Nurse of nearly 20 years and has worked in a variety of settings that have given her first hand experience with the medical side of disability. She was a Pediatric ICU nurse for 12 years and has also worked as a school nurse, a pediatric urgent care nurse, a Neonatal ICU nurse and currently as a private duty nurse for medically fragile children, as well as providing infusion nursing for patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Erin is a member of the Colorado Special Education Advisory Committee, serving the entire state and reporting to the Colorado Board of Education. Erin is passionate about inclusion in education and all areas of life and has watched her son thrive both academically and socially by being meaningfully included in his general education classroom and larger community. Erin is passionate about empowering parents and guardians of children with disabilities by providing education and information to help them advocate effectively inside and outside of school using a collaborative approach.

Sadie Garza is an outcome-driven instructional designer and project manager with nearly two decades of experience in early childhood and lower elementary education. As a Learning Design and Innovation Specialist, she designs training, produces resources, and creates and refines systems that empower teachers and school leaders to produce meaningful outcomes for children. Sadie holds Master's Degrees in Elementary Education from American University and Education Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Maryland and is a certified Pre-K CLASS Observer.

I’m Marie Covington, I bring over 12 years of experience in early childhood, beginning as a preschool teacher for five years, a special education preschool teacher for four years, and an early childhood mental health consultant for three years. I currently work at the Colorado Department of Early Childhood as the Infant and Early Childhood Access & Integration Specialist. Throughout my work, I have focused on supporting families and children through a DEI lens, ensuring all children have the opportunity to thrive.

Jenny Pettit is Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Northern Colorado, and the former K-12 Social Studies Coordinator for the St. Vrain Valley Schools in Longmont, CO. (M.Ed., Curriculum and Instruction, Lesley University; Ed.D. University of Northern Colorado).

Sheila Purdin began her career in early education thirty years ago in her native Seattle, WA. She is currently the Director of Early Childhood Education at Temple Sinai in Denver, CO, an adjunct professor at American Jewish University, and co-author of What is Jewish About Loose Parts. She was a past member of the Efshar Project board and, during her twenty years in Atlanta, served on the Jewish Early Childhood Council of Atlanta (as co-chair and Kallah planning chair) and the PJ Library Atlanta board. She participated in the URJ Pursuing Excellence in Your Early Childhood Center Community of Practice and is a Simms/Mann Institute The First 36 Project Fellow. Sheila has been a member of Early Childhood Educators of Reform Judaism since 2008 and served as their VP of Marketing. She lives in Denver with her husband, Mark, her hamster, Moose, and has two adult children and a grandson who are pretty fantastic.

Rachel Cram began her career in early education with Americorps in an infant classroom with Early Head Start in 2004. It was there she found her calling. Rachel then spent over a decade with the Denver JCC, serving as an educator, Early Childhood Coordinator, Assistant Director, and Director. During that time Rachel was selected to participate in the Jewish Early Childhood Education Leadership Institute (JECELI), a highly competitive national program training exemplary leaders. Rachel then led a privately owned school in downtown Denver, The Wonder Academy, through the pandemic, creating a safe space for children and educators to thrive. Rachel then joined the administrative team at Temple Sinai Preschool and described it, “like coming home.” She has a deep love for the Jewish community and their investment in quality early childhood education. When Rachel is not at work, you can find her supporting her two daughters' school, basketball and/or gymnastics endevors. Rachel enjoys time with friends, a good concert, a day in the mountains and traveling to new places!

Danielle Whetstone-Harris is a passionate advocate for educator well-being with over 13 years of experience in teaching and instructional leadership. A proud native of Chicago, IL, Danielle has balanced her professional journey with the responsibilities of raising four children as a single parent. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Curriculum Development. Her career spans both charter and independent school districts, where she has taught students from Pre-K3 through 2nd grade. Danielle has served in numerous leadership roles, including Campus Lead, Mentor Teacher, Trainer, Grade Level Chair, Lead Content Teacher, Title I Interventionist, and was honored as Teacher of the Year. Currently, Danielle serves as the Campus Instructional Coach, where she supports teachers through professional learning, coaching, and classroom-based collaboration focused on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and equity-driven, student-centered practices. In 2022, she launched The Teacher’s Teacher, an educational consulting firm through which she mentors and coaches educators beyond her campus. Outside of education, Danielle enjoys reading, music, cooking, traveling, and lifelong learning. She is also an active member of her church and regularly participates in community service initiatives.

Ashley Lawless MA, ECSE, has an extensive background in early intervention, early childhood special education and care, and supervision of early childhood educators. Her knowledge of and experience with inclusive early childhood programs has been rural grown for over nineteen years. Her scholarship focus is fully committed to equity, inclusion, diversity, and social justice for all children. She is a faculty member in inclusive early childhood education.

Kirsten Encarnacion has worked in EC for over 30 years as a classroom teacher. She believes that hands-on play, based learning best supports the development of young children and especially enjoys promoting the greater use of Process Art for all Early Childhood teachers. Kirsten currently works at Ruth Washburn Cooperative Nursey in Colorado Springs which has a strong family involvement and has used process art exclusively for 60 years.

Erin has been engaging children in the exploration of process art for over 2 decades. She has worked as a professional nanny, early childhood educator, and director of an early childhood nursery school. Erin is passionate about the joy children experience when exploring art materials. She is amazed when children are excited about developing their creativity. Erin values the wide variety of skill development offered through process art experiences. She is excited to share ideas with fellow educators!

Lori has been an Early Childhood Educator for 11 years. She believes process art inspires creativity and helps children (and their grownups!) understand there is no "right way" to make art. She hopes this presentation encourages other teachers to introduce process art in their own settings.

Abigain (Abi) Cano Perez is the Education and Engagement Coordinator for the National Wildlife Federation's Early Childhood Health Outdoors (ECHO) initiative. In this role, she helps build community partnerships as well as create outreach materials for early education professionals. She attended the University of Idaho and received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and GIS. She has previously worked for STEM-based youth education programs, environmental non-profit organizations and state agencies, as well as a dual-language school as a project advisor and early childhood educator. Abi is passionate about addressing issues of accessibility and equitable opportunities, specifically for historically underrepresented communities.

Virginia has over 16 years' experience as an ECE director and business consultant. She specializes in using technology and automation as ECE business solutions. Her current work is focused on expanding the Colorado ECE substitute workforce.

Elle Hong (she/her) is the Education Director at Think 360, where she leads in planning and implementing a range of programs including artists-in-schools/community programs, teacher professional development, and more. She serves as the Affiliate Director for Greater Denver Wolf Trap, working to provide arts-integrated learning for early childhood educators and students. Elle began her work with the organization in 2022 as the Teacher Professional Development Manager and has gained a deep understanding of Denver’s diverse and evolving education landscape. She believes that integrating the arts into classrooms not only fosters creativity and engagement but also serves as a powerful tool for addressing systemic inequities. With a background spanning secondary through tertiary education, Elle has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Colorado Boulder and helped launch remote undergraduate programs at Naropa University overseen by the USDOE. Beyond her work in education, Elle brings experience collaborating with contemporary performance artists and public arts institutions, as well as serving on public selection committees, including for the National Endowment for the Arts and Denver International Airport’s CEEA. As an arts administrator and advocate, she is committed to ensuring that arts programming remains accessible to all, regardless of barriers.

Rhianna Cranston is a dedicated dance performer, educator, and choreographer residing in Denver. Growing up in the heartland of Kansas, Rhianna's devotion to her craft led her through a journey encompassing ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and contemporary dance styles. While obtaining her B.F.A in Dance from the University of Kansas, Rhianna was President of UNITY Hip Hop Dance Crew as well choreographed, produced, and performed in numerous works for The University Dance Company and various student showcases. Following university, Rhianna was drawn to the vibrancy of Colorado, where she leapt into the realm of professional concert dance as a member of Cleo II at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance (CPRD) for a season. Subsequently, she joined the CPRD Education Team, blending her passion for dance and education. That blend continues in the current through her role as a teaching artist with esteemed outreach organizations such as Wolf Trap and Celebrate the Beat, and engaging with audiences near and far through performance opportunities with companies such as Davis Contemporary Dance. Additionally, Rhianna is an instructor and choreographer at various dance studios in the area, and loves getting to work with the future generation of movers.

Kara Van de Grift is the Strategic Operations Director at Assuring Better Child Health & Development (ABCD), in Denver, Colorado, and provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of ABCD’s programming. Kara brings a passion for maternal health, early childhood development, and building strong, healthy communities, informed by her background as an early childhood educator, postpartum doula, and public health social worker. Kara holds master’s degrees in Public Health and Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a proud mom who brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work.

Nikki Fitch is the Family and Community Engagement Manager at Assuring Better Child Health & Development (ABCD) in Denver, Colorado. Nikki works with families, early childhood professionals, and community partners to improve access to developmental services, amplify family voices, and build equitable, culturally responsive programs. She is passionate about making systems and resources easier to navigate so families and providers feel confident and supported. With a BA in Psychology from Adams State University, I built a foundation for my work empowering families and early childhood professionals. Outside of work, I volunteer at the fossil prep lab at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and enjoy spending time with my husband, teenage son, and fluffy Pomeranian.

Karina Scott is the founder of Freedom Inside: For Children, Parents, and Teachers, a non-profit focused on providing education and coaching to parents and teachers in order to improve the lives of children. Karina is incredibly passionate about working with children, families, and teachers. Her goal is to positively effect the lives of as many children in the world as possible. She strongly believes that the world can be changed in a single generation if the adults around children are given the education and resources they need to succeed. Karina has been studying Early Childhood Education since 2006. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Traditional Eastern Arts from Naropa University. She holds a level 6 PDIS credential in Colorado Shines, a coaching credential, and a training credential. She teaches Early Childhood Education classes at the college level. She is a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Breastfeeding Consultant, Nurturing Parenting Facilitator, and Right Use of Power Instructor.

Dr. Cathrine Aasen Floyd is an equity-centered early childhood leader, policy strategist, and systems builder with over 25 years of experience advancing high-quality, inclusive learning environments for children, families, and educators. Guided by a deep belief in the power of early relationships, she has led programs, initiatives, and cross-sector collaborations that strengthen early care and education systems at the local, state, and national levels. Cathrine’s leadership journey spans roles as a state preschool program director, nonprofit executive, and national thought partner to early childhood organizations. She has directed large-scale early learning programs serving families experiencing homelessness, supported child care center directors in achieving excellence across operations and compliance, and led DEI-driven professional learning communities to build leadership capacity in the field. Cathrine holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Denver and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education with an Early Childhood Special Education endorsement from the University of Colorado Denver. Today, she continues to bridge policy and practice as a consultant, speaker, and advocate — partnering with schools, nonprofits, and philanthropic organizations to create equitable, trauma-informed, and family-centered systems of care. Whether facilitating professional development, mentoring directors, or shaping early learning policy, Cathrine remains committed to ensuring every child and family — particularly those from historically underserved communities — can thrive.

Dr. Elena Bodrova is currently the Director for Research and Development at Tools of the Mind and a Research Fellow at the National Institute for Early Education Research at Rutgers University. In collaboration with Dr. Deborah Leong, she developed the Tools of the Mind program based on Vygotskian and post-Vygotskian theories of learning and Luria’s theories of brain development. Dr. Bodrova’s work on applying Lev Vygotsky’s theory to education began in Russia where she worked in the Institute for Preschool Education, and continued in the US where she worked as a Visiting Professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver and later as a Principal Researcher at Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning. Dr. Bodrova is the coauthor with Dr. Leong of multiple articles and book chapters on early literacy, assessment, play, and self-regulation. Dr. Bodrova holds a Ph.D. in Child Development and Educational Psychology from Russian Academy of Pedagogical Sciences and an M.A. in Child Development and Educational psychology from Moscow State University, Russia.

Dusti discovered her passion for the ECE field when her daughter was born 21 years ago. She began working in childcare centers and quickly became a director, a position she held for 15 years while all 4 of her children attended the center. During this time, Dusti discovered Expanding Quality for Infant and Toddlers and fell in love with the training and coaching. Seven years ago, she became an EQIT coach and trainer and loved being able to connect with teachers throughout the state. Now, as the NE Regional Coach, Dusti gets to support the coaching network in Co and is still teaching EQIT because she loves seeing the spark in teachers when they discover just how amazing they are. In her downtime, you can usually find Dusti on the side of the baseball field cheering on her kids or hanging out with her two dogs at home.

Becky Keigan, MA, is the Director of the Buell Early Childhood Leaders Network and a 2010–2011 Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program (BECLP) Fellow. As BECLN Director, Becky serves as the lead connector for fourteen cohorts of BECLP alumni. She is also the founder and lead educational consultant for Becky Keigan + Associates. With more than four decades of experience in early childhood education, Becky has served as an educational consultant, coach, and adjunct faculty member at the University of Colorado Denver. Her background includes roles as an ECE school district and Head Start teacher, family literacy and education coordinator, Food Friends program coordinator at Colorado State University, and training and curriculum specialist at Kodo Kids. Becky’s life goal is to inspire early and inspire often—nurturing people’s passion and joy for their child-focused work, family life choices, and healthy living.

As Associate Professor of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Dr. Dorothy Shapland Rodriguez created the Master of Education program aimed at developing leaders in the areas of Trauma Informed Practices, Equity and Inclusion. She has developed Inclusive Education curriculum for the University Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, as well as professional development and leadership curriculum for CommissionED, preschool curriculum for Scholars Unlimited, and social emotional learning curriculum for Colorado’s Project Learning Tree Environmental Education program. She has received university acknowledgement and awards for program leadership, teaching excellence, service excellence, and career catalyst advising. She has been instrumental in writing, receiving, and managing over $750,000. in grant funding dedicated to expanding the trauma informed and equity work of the ECE program. In addition to her university work, Dr. Shapland Rodriguez is active in the ECE community and serves as a member of the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Network Council, the Denver Early Childhood Council Advisory Board, the Denver Great Kids Head Start Policy Council, The Statewide EC Higher Education Collaborative, and the board of directors of the Fort Collins Academy of Arts and Sciences. She also works with numerous schools, centers and districts in the Denver Metro area to provide professional development to practicing ECE educators. Dr. Shapland Rodriquez has been a Master Trainer and Equity Consultant for IREE for the past 5 years working on projects across the country on equity, culturally responsive practices, language justice, and belonging in ECE Settings. As a 30 + years veteran teacher of preschool & elementary in private, public, and charter school settings, Dr. Shapland Rodriguez brings a wealth of experience within existing systems to her teacher preparation, coaching practice and publications. Her teaching, research, and scholarly work revolve around intentional, culturally responsive, and trauma informed educational and leadership practices for equity, access and inclusion.

Ana has worked in electoral and legislative campaigns for the last 6 years, and for the last 3, she has been working to solve the crisis in care. Now, she works as the Colorado State Manager for Save the Children Action Network working to ensure every child has a strong start in life.

She’s worked as a classroom teacher, home visitor, an early childhood special educator, early interventionist, center director for Head Start and Cherry Creek Schools, executive director of an Early Intervention Agency and a program consultant. Susan joined Save the Children Action Network(SCAN) as a volunteer advocate in 2018. She became a volunteer outreach coordinator for Centennial in 2020 and recently became the volunteer leader for the state of Colorado. Her advocacy work has included voter registration events, testifying for legislation, visits with local, state and national legislators and a visit to the White House in 2022. One of her passions in advocacy is recruiting early childhood professionals to advocate for children, families, and the profession.

Gabrielle DeLoach, M.S., is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in teaching, coaching, and mentoring. She has made significant contributions across various roles, including her work as a case manager at a community-based mental health center, lead teacher for classroom ages birth to 5 years old, and coach for Special Olympics and various youth programs. In her academic pursuits, Gabrielle served as a Graduate Teacher Assistant in the early childhood lab classroom at Kansas State University (KSU), where she played a crucial role in curriculum development. She further honed her expertise as a Lead Instructor at Hoeflin Stone House within the Early Childhood Education Department. Her hands-on experience and leadership have been instrumental in shaping effective educational strategies and environments. Currently, Gabrielle is the Director of Professional Development at Kodo Kids, where she continues to influence and inspire educators and professionals in the field. Her passion for education and community engagement is evident in her professional endeavors and personal interests.

Emily holds dual masters degrees in Child Development and Developmental Psychology, and brings a rich background in both education and leadership. Specializing in equity-based leadership, inquiry-driven practice, and play-based learning, Emily is passionate about building inclusive environments where both children and staff can thrive. She has dedicated her career to fostering strong, collaborative teams and advancing equitable systems that empower individuals at every level. In her free time she enjoys exploring Colorado with her husband and two daughters.

Michaela is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has been working with children with autism and related disorders for over 8 years. She has worked in several different settings including multidisciplinary clinics and facility schools. Michaela is passionate about providing high quality care to the children she serves with a strong emphasis on learning through fun. Michaela received her Early Start Denver Model Certification in January of 2024. Michaela received her Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University in 2018. When she is not at Soar, Michaela enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and two dogs.

I have dedicated 32 years to teaching literacy to early learners, spanning Kindergarten through third grade, with a passion for building strong foundations in reading hand writing. As a trainer for trainers, I support and mentor educators in best practices for literacy instruction. I hold certifications in Linda Mood Bell, the Science of Reading, ensuring that my teaching iOS grounded in research-based methods. In addition, I am certified in yoga and mindfulness for children, which allows me to integrate social-emotional learning and wellness into the classroom to support the whole child.

Anne Machian is a partner and licensed landscape architect at RDG Planning & Design. With a diverse background serving various markets within landscape architecture, Anne specializes in our early learning, senior living, and healthcare markets. As a collaborative team member, she seamlessly integrates design themes into outdoor spaces, contributing to the holistic excellence of each project. Anne's passion for creating enduring, meaningful spaces underscore her mission to improve individuals well-being through thoughtful, intentional design.

Emily Holden has spent most of her career as a school psychologist in early childhood settings. She also has experience as an early childhood educator and is currently serving as an early childhood instructional guide. Emily is a PhD student at UC Denver with research interests in trauma-informed care, early childhood mental health, and approaches that support the well-being of early childhood professionals. Emily is also a current National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations fellow. She is a passionate advocate for systems and supports that promote the social and emotional well-being of young children and the adults who care for and educate them.

My name is Molly Milusnic and I am the Early Childhood Education Coordinator and Faculty for Pueblo Community College. I have over 30 years of experience in the Early Childhood field through many different paths. I began my career as a Toddler Teacher and grew to love the field of ECE and wanted to do more. I have been a licensing specialist, a background investigation specialist, an Early Childhood Coach and trainer. Darlene began working in Early Childhood Education via an Infant Stimulation Program during High School. Lea White is an experienced educator and ECE Consultant at Aurora Public Schools. With over 16 years in education, Lea specializes in Early Education and is committed to fostering student growth and academic excellence. She holds a Master's in Administration and Policy Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado. Passionate about high-quality professional development and coaching preschool teaching teams, Lea strives to create engaging and supportive learning environments. Beyond the classroom, she enjoys cooking, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends and family.

Kiersten Van der Kwast is an experienced educator and Early Learning Consultant at Aurora Public Schools. With over 14 years in education, Kiersten specializes in early childhood education, and is committed to fostering student growth and academic excellence. She holds a Master’s in Early Childhood Development and Psychology, from Roehampton University, London, UK, and has experience teaching students whose ages range from toddlers to third graders. Passionate about expeditionary learning and a play-based approach to early childhood, Kiersten strives to support educators in creating engaging and supportive learning environments for all preschool students in Aurora Public Schools. Beyond the classroom, she designs and facilitates professional development for preschool teachers and builds leadership, coaches preschool teachers, and enjoys traveling and spending time outside with her family.

Brenda Limaldi has been a music educator for 29 years for New Jersey Public Schools. She has worked in a variety of early childhood settings including: schools, daycare centers, and as a family childcare provider. For 9 years, she has led music and movement classes for infants and young children and their families using the Music Together® program in Brick and Point Pleasant. 

She has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Kean University and her Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgian Court University, where she began her research on the effectiveness of music and mindfulness not only to help children with their social emotional learning skills, but also as a stress reduction strategy for teachers.

For the past three years, Brenda has presented on the topic of music and mindfulness at education conferences including The New Jersey Association for the Education of Young Children, The National Association for the Education of Young Children, The Coalition of Infant and Toddler Educators, and The Family Child Care Providers Conference ( in English and Spanish). 

In addition, she offers Professional Development for local schools and early childhood centers around the themes of self-regulation strategies, stress management practices, and cultivating connections in the classroom.

Dr. Lori Marie Huertas is an educator, author, and industry partnerships leader with over 15 years of experience in higher education and community engagement. She holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a focus on marriage and family, bringing expertise in supporting children, parents, and diverse families. A published author of bilingual children’s books and The Christian Therapist Notebook, Lori blends her background in counseling with her passion for mentorship, cultural diversity, and student success. She is also an Army mom and dedicated advocate for building bridges between families, education, and industry to create opportunities for the next generation.

Kelly Herndon is a trainer, coach, and consultant who has been working in the fields of special education and early childhood for seventeen years. With a master’s degree in special education, she has spent her career supporting young children with disabilities as a paraprofessional, teacher,

and administrator. She developed a specialty in teaching social-emotional skills and responding to challenging behaviors, as well as a particular interest in supporting fellow early childhood educators through training, coaching, and team-based problem solving. Kelly is certified to train and coach in the Pyramid Model and Trauma-Informed and Equity-Focused practices, and she has additional knowledge and expertise in the areas of Conscious Discipline, positive behavior guidance, and paraprofessional competencies.

Iris Kolberg has been a Play Responsive educator for over ten years. She is passionate about children’s autonomous play, emergent curriculum, children’s rights, and storytelling. She currently teaches preschool at a center in Denver with a legacy of over forty years of Play. She holds a MA in Linguistics from CU Boulder.

Tess Swickard is an alumni and now educator at a 40+ year old play-based community within the Park Hill neighborhood of Denver. She has been teaching preschool for over a decade. Her philosophy highlights process focused art, direction from the child, and the importance of positive relationships.

Erin Smarr is a Pod Director and Pedagogical Coordinator at Boulder Journey School. Erin has been a part of the Boulder Journey School community since 2001 and was a classroom teacher for over 20 years working with children and families of all ages. She has been an instructor for courses within Boulder Journey School’s Teacher Education Program in conjunction with the University of Colorado at Denver. As a Pod Director and Pedagogical Coordinator Erin is responsible for guiding the learning of teachers, children and families bridging the gap between theory and practice; curriculum development; school wide team collaboration and the implementation of systems of organization related to classroom and school management. Erin has consulted with local schools and organizations and presented her work in various contexts. She received her MA in Educational Psychology in 2003 and the work of educators and schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy deeply influences her work.

Heather Blanco serves as the Chief Program Officer at the Early Childhood Council of Larimer County and as an Adjunct Instructor at Front Range Community College. She began her career in the classroom, teaching preschool for 10 years before moving into leadership roles supporting early childhood educators, families, and systems. Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development from the University of California, Davis and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado, Denver. Her work is driven by a deep belief that every child deserves access to environments where they feel safe, valued, and a true sense of belonging. Outside of her professional life, Heather enjoys traveling with her husband, camping, and experiencing live music.

Dr. Lisa Fyffe joined the CSU Occupational Therapy Department as an Assistant Professor in 2012 and developed the pediatric curriculum for the Occupational Therapy Doctorate. Dr. Fyffe has extensive pediatric experience, having worked in primary and secondary education, outpatient pediatric therapy, in-home private pediatric practice, Level IIIA Neonate Intensive Care Unit, and early childhood education. Dr. Fyffe is an expert in play-based learning as an inclusive early childhood education pedagogy for supporting diverse learners and optimizing children’s readiness for school. Dr. Fyffe’s current research explores embedded models of occupational therapy practice within early childhood education, with an emphasis on equitable and inclusive developmental support for young children enrolled in private childcare centers. Dr. Fyffe is the author of "The Occupational Therapy Embedded in Early Childhood (OTEEC) Partnership Model".

Emeri Ferguson is Literacy Differentiation Specialist and Coach at The Wellington School. She has been educating young children for 15yrs. in many different capacities from daycare to upper elementary in both public and private schools. Emeri holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in both psychology and Spanish, a teaching license in PreK-3rd with 4th/5th grade and reading endorsements, a Master’s Degree in Literacy along with being a certified dyslexia interventionist through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction. She is energized by encouraging students to discover the reading code through a multi-sensory play-based experience.

Ellen Rhomberg is the Early Childhood Specialist at The Wellington School. She has dedicated the past decade to educating young minds in the field of early childhood education. Her experience spans across various age groups, ranging from 2 to 6 years old, and includes teaching in both public and private schools, as well as single-sex and coeducational environments. Ellen holds a bachelor's degree in human development and learning, along with a PreK-3rd teaching license, obtained from the University of Memphis. She furthered her education at the University of Memphis by earning a master's degree in instruction and curriculum leadership, specializing in early childhood education. She has a passion for bringing more play into education and making it a necessity not a privilege.

Paris Baker (she/her) is the Family, Early Childhood, and Community Engagement Manager at the Clyfford Still Museum. Inspired by Reggio-Emilia principles, Baker incorporates the foundational belief that children are curious, creative, and valuable contributors to their learning into her work with children in museums.

Emily Bullard (she/her) is the Assistant Director, School &Teacher Programs at the Clyfford Still Museum. Emily is interested in creating art experiences that foster belonging, show participants the power of their own ideas, and invite investigation and inquiry into our shared human experience.

Melissa Jewell is a professional development coach at Shine Early Learning as part of the SPARK Learning Lab Colorado. She has been in the field of education for over 20 years working in public school settings, Christian childcare, and Head Start programs as a teacher, director, and coach. Currently Melissa coaches as part of the Denver Preschool Program working in a variety of early childhood programs across Denver county. She also has the opportunity to facilitate trainings and professional learning community (PLC) groups. She participated in the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program and received her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Colorado, Denver

With over 20 years of experience in the field of early education, Cathy has served in a variety of roles supporting both children and educators. She is currently

a Professional Development Coach with Spark Learning Lab Colorado, where she partners with teachers, directors, and leaders to strengthen early learning

programs through training, coaching, and reflective practice. In addition, Cathy is a certified observer for the CLASS Pre-K and TPOT Observation Tools.

Vicki Oleson has been in the field of Early Childhood Education for 35 years. Vicki is one of the Pod Directors and Pedagogical Coordinators at Boulder Journey School. She works closely with the children who are 3-5 years old, their families, and her colleagues. In her role, she supports the development of curriculum and community, while seeking authentic ways to incorporate academics. Professionally, Vicki is working on ways to combine the threads of inquiry emerging in different classrooms to add more complexity to the work. Additionally, she is wondering how to give more visibility of the children within the community of Boulder in meaningful ways. Vicki holds an M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver and a B.S. in Language Arts with an emphasis in Elementary Education and a Colorado Early Childhood Education credential and Elementary Teaching License.

Charlotte Hunt is the Infant Pod Director and Pedagogical Coordinator at Boulder Journey School, where she delights in supporting children, teachers, and families each day. She also teaches Development and Education of Infants and Toddlers and Advanced Infant Toddler Development at the University of Colorado Denver. With a B.S. in Civil Engineering, an M.A. in Educational Psychology, and a Colorado Early Childhood Education credential, Charlotte blends curiosity and care to create nurturing, engaging learning environments. When she’s not at school, she loves exploring Colorado’s trails and painting with watercolors, finding inspiration in the wonder she sees in young learners.

Melissa has worked in the early childhood field for the past 26 years and joined CDE in 2014 as a CPP Regional Preschool Specialist. Her current role is as the State Child Find Specialist at CDE. Missy's professional experience includes work as an ECSE, Child Find Coordinator, CPP Coordinator, classroom teacher, coach and preschool director in the public school system. She also worked in a two-generation family literacy program and started two dual language preschool programs.

I’m Marie Covington, I bring over 12 years of experience in early childhood, beginning as a preschool teacher for five years, a special education preschool teacher for four years, and an early childhood mental health consultant for three years. I currently work at the Colorado Department of Early Childhood as the Infant and Early Childhood Access & Integration Specialist. Throughout my work, I have focused on supporting families and children through a DEI lens, ensuring all children have the opportunity to thrive.

Sharlene has been with the Colorado Department of Education since 2015, supporting professionals in navigating the many pathways into early childhood education. Committed to supporting educators at all stages of their journey, she provides personalized guidance to help individuals discover meaningful and rewarding careers in early childhood.

Gordon graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Colorado Denver in Communication and Ethnic Studies. He holds certifications in Social Emotional Learning - Program Quality Assessment, professional and personal coaching, and mentoring, as well as a super strong background in the performing arts. Recently, Gordon was awarded Mentor of the Year for CU Denver’s First Gen and Multi-cultural Business Program students. He is also highly trained in facilitating and delivering Social Emotional Advanced Learning as well as SMART Goals processes. To date, Gordon has served over 6,000 children and youth. He takes his mission of child and youth enrichment and empowerment very seriously and is proud of his innovative, creative and effective learning and teaching methodologies.

Dr. Kassy has over 25 years of experience in the field of education. She has been a teacher, director, curriculum coordinator, early childhood mental health consultant, psychology professor, and early childhood education college professor. Dr. Kassy has collaborated with Native American and Alaska Native Head Start programs for a decade. Currently, she is the ASPIRE Program, Inclusive Higher Education, at Pikes Peak State College in Colorado Springs. Dr. Kassy started her own early childhood consultation business in 2023, where training and support are built on a foundation of mental health. Her deepest passion is to positively impact the lives of children and support the adults who have a direct impact with their learning and well-being.

Jill is an early childhood educator with over 30 years of experience in various settings. She currently works as the Director of Education, alongside her husband, Adam, at their company Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds. Jill is part of an exciting team that designs and creates natural playgrounds connecting children to nature. She focuses on finding ways to extend curriculum outdoors making it simple and fun for both children and educators. Jill is inspired by the children she works with and enjoys finding creative ways to transform outdoor 'roadblocks' into learning opportunities for all.

Margie has a degree in Sociology and Social Anthropology from Dalhousie University and has been an RECE for 10 years with experience in vast settings. Previous to joining BNP, Margie spent over 8 years at the Halton District School Board teaching kindergarten. She loves exploring the outdoors and is inspired by the diverse learning opportunities it provides. Margie’s passion is in showcasing the natural world as a powerful teaching tool for both children and educators. Her drive comes through the children she works with and in transforming outdoor environments into child-led, inclusive experiences, where all learning styles and personalities shine through.

Alison Hargarten is the Deputy Director at Healthy Child Care Colorado, where she advances strategic initiatives, leads advocacy efforts, and strengthens alignment across early childhood systems. With a degree and background in School Psychology and experience in early childhood mental health, Alison has worked to improve systems and support the social-emotional development and well-being of caregivers, children, and families through her work in K-12 education, state agencies, and nonprofit settings.

Eva Jankovsky is the Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Initiatives Manager for the Colorado Department of Early Childhood- CDEC. Eva deeply enjoys building relationships with early childhood professionals who are working to expand responsive care to the infant and toddler workforce. She is a Buell Fellow, receiving her MA in Education Administration; Policy, Early Childhood Leadership in 2011 from the University of Denver.

Brenda Limaldi has been a music educator for 29 years for New Jersey Public Schools. She has worked in a variety of early childhood settings including: schools, daycare centers, and as a family childcare provider. For 9 years, she has led music and movement classes for infants and young children and their families using the Music Together® program in Brick and Point Pleasant. 

She has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Kean University and her Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgian Court University, where she began her research on the effectiveness of music and mindfulness not only to help children with their social emotional learning skills, but also as a stress reduction strategy for teachers.

For the past three years, Brenda has presented on the topic of music and mindfulness at education conferences including The New Jersey Association for the Education of Young Children, The National Association for the Education of Young Children, The Coalition of Infant and Toddler Educators, and The Family Child Care Providers Conference ( in English and Spanish). 

In addition, she offers Professional Development for local schools and early childhood centers around the themes of self-regulation strategies, stress management practices, and cultivating connections in the classroom.

Alesandra Rodriguez has a Master’s Degree in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education with an endorsement in Special Education, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She has over 10 years of teaching experience in a variety of grade levels, as well as in dual-language education. She is passionate, dedicated, and committed to advocating for the identification and programming of gifted and talented students in underrepresented populations, and with multiple exceptionalities. Alesandra is an avid Montessorian; she is active in the community participating and presenting in Gifted and Talented conferences and is a board member for the Colorado Academy for Educators of the Gifted, Talented, and Creative. Alesandra loves hiking, yoga, and spending time with her family and dogs outside of work.

Kayleen is excited to be a Pyramid Colorado Facilitator. Through her work with Pyramid Colorado, she is able to share her love and passion for Early Childhood Education and support a new generation of Early Childhood Professionals. She also serves as a content developer for WestEd. Her work centers on play, connection, and strategies that empower educators to bring joy and intention to their practice. Carly is a Master Play Coach with the Institute for Self Active Education and has shared her passion for the transformative power of play with educators and families across the U.S., Cambodia, and India. She is a featured author in The Global Healing Curriculum Project and her white paper, The Transformative Power of Self-Active Play for Adults, was featured in the International Play Association USA’s 2024 publication. Carly is the 2024 recipient of the NAEYC Play Interest Forum Patricia Monighan Nourot Award for leadership and scholarship in play.

Dr. Lori Marie Huertas is an educator, author, and industry partnerships leader with over 15 years of experience in higher education and community engagement. She holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a focus on marriage and family, bringing expertise in supporting children, parents, and diverse families. A published author of bilingual children’s books and The Christian Therapist Notebook, Lori blends her background in counseling with her passion for mentorship, cultural diversity, and student success. She is also an Army mom and dedicated advocate for building bridges between families, education, and industry to create opportunities for the next generation.

Ms. Riddell is an epidemiologist specializing in poverty. Writing about and presenting brain science concepts has been a focal point for her work. From her years working as an epidemiologist and specializing in poverty, she created “gettin’ by”, a training program to help professionals work more effectively with low-income people. The centerpiece of the program is a game that puts the players’ brains through the same changes that happen to a person living in poverty. In 2019, after five years of testing and development, she brought the program to national and regional conferences. She is an experienced and enthusiastic public speaker. She speaks at several events each year and gets positive reviews. Her undergraduate degree is in English from the University of Cincinnati. She earned her master’s degree in health policy and management at the University of Southern Maine, Muskie School for Public Service. She has also completed courses at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in social epidemiology and biostatistics.

Elise Silva has contributed to the field of early childhood education for two decades in a variety of capacities, from preschool teacher to dance instructor to family support specialist. Throughout her career, she has approached the opportunity to support children's development as a privilege, and a the primary site for cultivating a more just and liberatory world. Her work as an artist, community organizer, and most of all as a mother has shaped her understanding that raising children can be both magical and revolutionary.

Emily Landes serves as Senior Project Manager for the Impact on Equity Initiative, the Rural Care Network, and Early Childhood Connect. Previously, she was Project Manager for the CIRCLE Grant Initiative, Expanding Ideal Learning in Colorado, and the Colorado Comprehensive Early Childhood Workforce Plan. Before joining Early Milestones, Emily worked as a Program Manager at Vital Voices Global Partnership, implementing bilingual youth leadership programs and distributing social impact grants. Emily has also worked in El Salvador, Milwaukee, San Diego, and Belfast on human rights education projects for youth. Emily received a master’s degree from the United Nations-mandated University for Peace in International Law and Human Rights Studies, where she focused on Children’s and Women’s Rights. Her bachelor’s degree is from Marquette University in International Relations with a concentration in Peace and Justice Studies with minors in Spanish and Women’s and Gender Studies.

As Director of Research, Laura leads Milestones’ efforts to inform early childhood policy and decision-making in Colorado with high quality data and analysis. Her work focuses on understanding the needs, outcomes, and inequities affecting young children (ages zero to eight) and their families in Colorado. Laura is a quantitative sociologist who specializes in population health, family demography, survey research, and complex data analysis. She earned her PhD and MA in Sociology from Rice University and her BA in Psychology from the University of Houston. The National Science Foundation has recognized her work on intergenerational health inequalities. Laura currently lives in sunny Tucson, AZ with her husband and three kids. She enjoys hiking through the Sonoran Desert, occasionally renovating a vintage Airstream, running with her dogs, and family dance parties.

Kacee oversees the implementation of Early Milestones’ portfolio of work. Kacee previously served as Director of Professional Development and Communications for the Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council, where she managed a variety of professional development opportunities and strategies for developing the early childhood workforce. Kacee also managed the T.E.A.C.H. program at Qualistar Colorado. She has spent the past 10 years coordinating professional development for early childhood educators as a credentialed Early Childhood Coach and Trainer. Kacee earned a B.A. in communication from Missouri State University and an M.A. in international and intercultural communication from the University of Denver. She is also a graduate of Leadership Aurora, a 10-month community engagement program led by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce.

Hunter Johnson is a certified Early Childhood Coach with the Pueblo Early Childhood Council, bringing over 12 years of experience in the field of education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Education and Human Development, and has spent her career supporting educators in creating inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environments for young children. In her current role, Hunter partners with early childhood professionals to strengthen teaching practices and promote equitable learning for all children.

Ryan Montoya is a Family Specialist with Children First/Pueblo Early Childhood Council and brings over 15 years of experience in the Early Childhood field, with a strong foundation in Head Start programs. They hold a degree in Early Childhood Education. Ryan is a certified Professional Development Specialist through the Council for Professional Recognition, a PDIS-certified trainer, a certified Human Resources Consultant, and an Executive Assistant. With a background that also includes previous CLASS certification, Ryan blends professional expertise with a friendly, approachable style to support children, families, and early educators in building inclusive, high-quality learning environments.

Rebecca Armentrout, M.A., is the Executive Director and Founder of Nebula Early Childhood Collaborative and a professor of Early Childhood Education. With over 21 years of experience as an educator, leader, coach, Reflective Supervisor, Keynote Speaker, Nationally Recognized® Trainer, and professional development specialist, Rebecca has dedicated her career to building resilient communities rooted in the Science of Hope. She leads professional development and reflective consultation across Colorado, integrating trauma-informed practices, Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), and strengths-based coaching. Rebecca is also a national partner in HOPE-informed organizational leadership initiatives and has presented workshops that inspire, motivate, and empower educators to reimagine their practice. Known for blending research with storytelling, she uplifts the voices of early childhood professionals while advancing equity, protective factors, and systemic progress. Rebecca’s work emphasizes that every classroom and every community can become a space where hope thrives.

Susanne is a preschool teacher, certified parent coach and a nationally board certified massage therapist. She combines the science of relaxation, and the power of mind body awareness into peaceful games that build self-awareness skills among students and teachers alike. Each game, and more importantly, the time spent in peaceful connection, supports classroom transitions and social and emotional growth. Susanne has a degree in Child and Family Studies, and has spent the last 25 years working closely with children and families to encourage well-being through play and mindful awareness.

Temisha Elliott has dedicated over 20 years to serving children and families through Head Start, beginning her career as a classroom teacher and evolving into a passionate advocate for equity and family empowerment. She has coached and supported teachers and Family Engagement Liaisons, providing mentorship, guidance, and supervision to foster inclusive and supportive learning environments. Known for her joy in teaching math in playful and engaging ways, Temisha continues her work supporting teachers, families, and students while centering equity, leadership development, and collective empowerment. She is particularly committed to uplifting young mothers of color and creating spaces where women leaders can share their experiences, inspire one another, and cultivate the next generation of changemakers.

Dulcie Velasco is an Early Childhood Consultant with Aurora Public Schools, bringing over 20 years of dedicated experience in early childhood education. Her expertise spans student engagement, instructional support, curriculum support, and strengthening classroom practice and understanding. Throughout her career, Dulcie has been committed to supporting educators in creating high-quality, inclusive learning environments that meet the developmental needs of young children.

Hi, I’m Dalton Ercolano, Founder of OrAI and an educator with deep roots in Jewish early childhood education. Early on, I realized that while educators are passionate and dedicated, they often lack tools and resources that truly reflect their values and support their practice. That insight sparked my vision for OrAI and the capabilities of AI in education. OrAI combines my experience in Jewish early childhood education with the power of AI to create a reflective, values-driven partner for teachers. I believe AI empowers educators to plan intentionally, grow confidently, and spend more time doing what matters most: connecting with children. Amy Nissley is a passionate early childhood educator and advocate for young children and their families. 

Amy designed her bachelor' degree in Contemplative Education so she could study early childhood care and teaching through the lens of psychology, sociology, philosophy, and holistic health. During her over 15 years of experience, she became passionate about emergent curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. From being an FFN provider, to teaching, and then to mentoring and supporting program start ups, she brings her experience into her current role supporting current and aspiring caregivers and educators as a career navigator with the Colorado Department of Education.

Dr. Mary Nelson is the Executive Director and Head of School at the Denver Cooperative Preschool (DCP) and has been working in education for over twenty years. She has been a member of the DCP cooperative community since 2009. During that time, Mary has served as a parent, board member, Assistant Director, and Executive Director. Community-based education is at the heart of Mary’s educational philosophy, and she believes deeply in the power of collaboration between children, their families, and the school community. Working closely with families is one of Mary’s strengths, and she has a passion for supporting parents in realizing their vision for their child’s education. Mary’s research interests are focused on the social and structural factors impacting parent and caregiver engagement, reconceptualizing family engagement through an equity lens, and alternative narratives of quality in early childhood. Her doctoral research project was titled "Family Engagement Across Diverse Contexts: Studying the Relationship Between Program Practice and the Colorado Shines Quality Rating Improvement System. In addition to her role at DCP, Mary serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Colorado Denver and University of Northern Colorado. She teaches courses on early childhood leadership, working with families and communities, and early language and literacy for culturally and linguistically diverse learners. Mary holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver, and a Doctorate of Education in Leadership for Educational Equity with a focus in Early Childhood from the University of Colorado Denver. She is a graduate of the Stanley British Primary Teacher Residency Program (now known as the Public Education and Business Coalition), and was a 2018-19 fellow in the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program through the University of Colorado, Denver. Mary lives in Denver with her husband, three children, four dogs (Beans, Honey, Goose, and Maple), and a very busy and well-loved coffee pot. Her passions include cooking, gardening, hiking, mycology, and exploring Denver by foot!

Stacy has been working in education since 2004. From 2017-2025, Stacy worked in a leadership role for Boulder County Head Start, both as a Center Director and most recently as the Education Services Manager, providing guidance and leadership to Center Directors and working closely with children and families at multiple Head Start sites. In addition to her experience with Head Start, Stacy has been an educator, center director, and curriculum trainer for the Boulder JCC, KCAA Preschools of Hawaii, the Frederick Discovery School, Kent Denver School, and the Boulder Journey School. Stacy joined the Denver Cooperative Preschool in May, 2025 where she focuses on admissions, supporting educators, and building community within the organization. Stacy holds a B.A. in English Liberal Arts with a minor in History and Sociology from the University of Northern Colorado, and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado, Denver. She is a graduate of the Boulder Journey School licensed teacher education program, and was a 2018-19 fellow in the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program through the University of Colorado Denver. Stacy is also a certified Courageous Conversations About Race practitioner, and her classroom work was featured in an article in ARNEC Connections magazine, and Building the Foundation for Children's Success in School and Life. Stacy is a passionate advocate for the field of early childhood and focuses her work on building partnerships with families and supporting children in their early educational journey. Over her career, she has built relationships with countless organizations and foundations that support children and families, including the Cultural Responsiveness and Inclusion Committee (CRIAC), Boulder Philharmonic Education Committee, Community Services Culturally Responsive Inclusivity group, the Boulder Public Library DEI Advisory Board, and the Growing Up Boulder Steering Committee. Stacy has been a colleague of mine since 2018 when we were connected through the Buell fellowship, and she has provided professional development in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to early childhood programs throughout Colorado. Stacy resides in Thornton with her wife, two teenage daughters, and her dog, Xochi.

As a member of the coaching team, Mx. Esterbrook is dedicated to improving care for children aged from birth through third grade. Mx. Esterbrook leads and provides reflective supervision and consultation to coaches. In addition, she conducts coaching and training as part of the Denver Preschool Program (DPP) Program. Mx. Esterbrook has over 20 years of experience in early childhood. This experience includes a variety of roles in the classroom, working with families and training and coaching ECE professionals. Mx. Esterbrook has her Colorado Coaching Credential, Colorado Trainers Credential and A Level VI Early Childhood Credential. She is alumnus of the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program and a member of the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Network. She graduated from Metro State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and art and from the University of Denver with a Master of Arts in Education Administration and Policy.

As a member of the Advancement Team at SPARK Learning Lab Colorado, Alia McRorie is a highly trained and experienced assessor and trainer. She supports the Colorado Shines, the state-wide QRIS, Assessment Team in maintaining their reliability in the ERS, provides training to the community in the ERS, best practices, and more. McRorie earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was a toddler teacher for close to 10 years, working in various preschools in Virginia and Colorado. After receiving a Master’s of the Arts in Early Childhood Education, with a concentration in Administration in 2019, she began working at Clayton Early Learning as a Quality Assessment Associate, where she completed assessments using ERS throughout Colorado. She was the Lead Quality Assessment Associate from November 2020 through June 2022, where she supported training new employees, hosting monthly Question and Answer sessions, and content editing reports for the Colorado Shines Rating. McRorie is reliable in ITERS-3, ECERS-3, FCCERS-3, PAS-3, and Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K CLASS®. She is passionate about helping members of the ECE community elevate the quality of their interactions with children and the environment they provide when teaching or coaching.

Jenny Pettit is Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Northern Colorado, and the former K-12 Social Studies Coordinator for the St. Vrain Valley Schools in Longmont, CO. (M.Ed., Curriculum and Instruction, Lesley University; Ed.D. University of Northern Colorado).

Leah is passionate about creating connections between early childhood professionals and celebrating their hard work. As the EQ Training Specialist, she supports infant and toddler educators through education, coaching, and reflective supervision to enhance their professionalism. She is responsible for ensuring that Colorado's Infant Toddler Specialist Network is supported through professional development opportunities, collaboration, and strengths-based feedback.

Dusti discovered her passion for the ECE field when her daughter was born 21 years ago. She began working in childcare centers and quickly became a director, a position she held for 15 years while all 4 of her children attended the center. During this time, Dusti discovered Expanding Quality for Infant and Toddlers and fell in love with the training and coaching. Seven years ago, she became an EQIT coach and trainer and loved being able to connect with teachers throughout the state. Now, as the NE Regional Coach, Dusti gets to support the coaching network in Co and is still teaching EQIT because she loves seeing the spark in teachers when they discover just how amazing they are. In her downtime, you can usually find Dusti on the side of the baseball field cheering on her kids or hanging out with her two dogs at home.

Michelle has worked in the ECE field for 20 years as a teacher, coach, director and training facilitator. She holds a master’s degree in ECE and teacher licensure in Early Childhood Special Education. Michelle is the owner of Super Start Colorado, where she currently serves as a developmental interventionist, Pyramid Model coach and training facilitator. As a developmental interventionist, Michelle provides direct services to children 0-3 who have an identified delay or disability using the family coaching model. As a coach and trainer, she provides services related to Pyramid Model implementation, quality improvement and licensing support. Michelle also works as a professional development facilitator with The Discovery Source, supporting teachers in their use of Pyramid Model materials. She earned her Pyramid Model Facilitator certification through Healthy Childcare Colorado and loves helping others learn about the Pyramid Model! She is passionate about helping teachers and caregivers to ensure ALL children succeed!

Eva Jankovsky is the Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Initiatives Manager for the Colorado Department of Early Childhood- CDEC. Eva deeply enjoys building relationships with early childhood professionals who are working to expand responsive care to the infant and toddler workforce. She is a Buell Fellow, receiving her MA in Education Administration; Policy, Early Childhood Leadership in 2011 from the University of Denver.

Alison Hargarten is the Deputy Director at Healthy Child Care Colorado, where she advances strategic initiatives, leads advocacy efforts, and strengthens alignment across early childhood systems. With a degree and background in School Psychology and experience in early childhood mental health, Alison has worked to improve systems and support the social-emotional development and well-being of caregivers, children, and families through her work in K-12 education, state agencies, and nonprofit settings.

Heather Craiglow is the Head Start Collaboration Office Director within the Department of Early Childhood. Heather’s role is to provide leadership and facilitate collaboration among Head Start agencies and entities that carry out activities designed to benefit low-income children and their families from birth to school entry. Her portfolio focuses on transitions to kindergarten, early literacy, quality nutrition activities and stable housing initiatives. Currently, Heather serves as a Commissioner on the Early Childhood Leadership Commission (ECLC) and is a co-chair of the Home Visiting Investment Task Force. Heather holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Dakota. She recently completed the National P-3 Center Leadership Certificate program.

Amy serves as the Kindergarten Transitional Administrator for the Colorado Universal Preschool team. She was an elementary school teacher prior to joining the Department of Early Childhood. Amy's portfolio supports the Quality Standards and Resources Bank that elevates the quality for UPK in the state.

Brandie Rosen is a veteran special education leader and the founder of Teaching Untangled, where she helps educators simplify complex challenges around behavior, compliance, and inclusive practices. With over 25 years of experience, Brandie is known for her practical, high-impact professional development and engaging presentations. She currently serves as a Program Coordinator in California and has trained educators across the U.S. and internationally.

Katherine Dines is a songwriter, author and teaching artist whose Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta ® Music engages young children through listening, movement, stories, sign language, and playful props. Her programs and keynotes help educators use music to foster literacy, memory, creativity, play-based learning, inclusion and social-emotional growth.

Kathy Klatt worked two part-time careers simultaneously as a Preschool Teacher/Director and a Children's Librarian/Program Coordinator, and is happiest when she gets to spend time with children. She is co-author, with Saroh Shoting, of S.T.E.P into Storytime: Using Storytime Effective Practice to Strengthen the Development of Newborns to Five-Year-Olds. She has completed trainings in Every Child Ready to Read I and II, Pyramid Plus, and MotherRead and has presented trainings to preschool staff, parents, grandparents and parents in a detention facility. Kathy planned and presented weekly baby and family story times; monthly bedtime story times and Around the World Bilingual Fun. She planned and implemented: Cuddletime Concerts for babies-- an arts, science, and cultural series for preschool and elementary school children; and a yearly celebration of Dia de los Ninos. She has presented at: NAEYC (5 times); American Library Association; Children's Librarians for Early Literacy; CLEL; and Reforma Cultural Conference.

Dr. Adelman is currently a clinical associate professor and director of the Early Childhood Education Program at Florida International University. She holds a doctorate in early childhood special education with a specialization in: teacher preparation, culturally responsive instruction, classroom management, emotional intelligence, social learning theory, educational technology, and cognitive learning theory. She has 20 years of teaching experience in various settings, including prekindergarten ESE, high school, and university settings, and she has experience in professional development for in-service teachers. Dr. Adelman is credentialed in prekindergarten ESE, ESOL, Reading, and ESE k-12. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented at several national and international conferences annually. Dr. Adelman is currently the PI of a large multi-year research grant that is examining the impact of an emotional intelligence curriculum on educational development, behavior, and student outcomes, at various low-income learning centers in the Southeastern United States.

Dr. Daniela Fenu Foerch is a Clinical Associate Professor and Researcher of Early Childhood Education in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education within the School of Education and Human Development at Florida International University. Daniela has experience teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses using different platforms. She is the Graduate Program Director of the Early Childhood Program Her research focuses on nurturing Emotional Intelligence in young children. Daniela is active in program and curriculum development. Daniela has presented her research to the local, national, and international communities and published several articles in the area of early childhood education. Aside from her teaching and research, Daniela serves as the Principal Investigator for the WeFEEL Emotional Intelligence Program at FIU. In 2022, Daniela published a children’s book titled The Colors of My Emotions, which focuses on fostering Emotional Intelligence in children 3 to 7.

Jae Dee Wood (she, her, hers) is the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Specialist at the Colorado Office of School Safety. She took this position after obtaining her Master’s in Public Health at the Colorado School of Public Health in May 2023. She aims to create better prevention, intervention, and healing for survivors of sexual assault from a public health lens. She believes that by looking upstream at social determinants of health and shared protective factors, we can, as a community, prevent sexual assault. She has served with AmeriCorps VISTA in 2018 at a community-based domestic violence shelter and rape crisis center in outreach. After this experience, she dedicated her career to serving survivors. She has spent the last 5 years in direct service alongside survivors of sexual assault on their healing journeys. Miss Wood is also a Subject Matter Expert for the Department of Education Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools on Adult Sexual Misconduct. She comes here today with her survivor-centered lens and public health background to prevent childhood sexual abuse from ever occurring.

Ana has worked in electoral and legislative campaigns for the last 6 years, and for the last 3, she has been working to solve the crisis in care. Now, she works as the Colorado State Manager for Save the Children Action Network working to ensure every child has a strong start in life.

Susan just celebrated her 50th year in early childhood education. She’s worked as a classroom teacher, home visitor, an early childhood special educator, early interventionist, center director for Head Start and Cherry Creek Schools, executive director of an Early Intervention Agency and a program consultant. Susan joined Save the Children Action Network(SCAN) as a volunteer advocate in 2018. She became a volunteer outreach coordinator for Centennial in 2020 and recently became the volunteer leader for the state of Colorado. Her advocacy work has included voter registration events, testifying for legislation, visits with local, state and national legislators and a visit to the White House in 2022. One of her passions in advocacy is recruiting early childhood professionals to advocate for children, families, and the profession.

A native of New Jersey with 15 years of experience in education, Sola Zaccheus has worked effortlessly to support the development of young children. After graduating from Howard University, she received her MAT in Early Childhood Education from American University and completed her Ed. S from George Washington University. Additionally, Mrs. Zaccheus has served as an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia, where she taught early childhood courses. Her love for children has manifested in many ways; she has been a teacher for preschool, kinder, and special education students and worked as a developmental therapist supporting children from birth to 5. In her spare time, she likes to needlepoint, power lift, travel the world, and spend time with her loved ones.

Molly Haas is a partner and licensed architect at RDG Planning & Design, where she plays a vital role in shaping environments that nurture early childhood development. Since joining the firm in 2017, Molly has devoted her architectural career to designing thoughtful, inspiring spaces for young children and their caregivers. Her work reflects a deep commitment to creating environments that are not only functional and beautiful but also support the emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of the children who use them. Molly has collaborated with a diverse range of clients and organizations, bringing a compassionate, research-informed approach to each project. She believes that architecture is a powerful catalyst for societal change and is driven by the conviction that well-designed spaces can positively influence entire communities. Through her work, Molly continues to advocate for the needs of children, early educators, and families, ensuring their voices are central to the design process.

Chris is an award-winning trainer and facilitator. He currently trains ECE workforce staff in modern neuroscience and human skills. He uses high-energy, roll-up-your-sleeves, experiential workshops to make PD stick like glue.

Cecilia Quintanilla was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and is currently an early childhood educator in Denver, Colorado. She is the founder and president of YBNeuro, an organization that supports neurodivergent students and their families in several countries, and she also leads the Denver Association for Gifted and Talented, along with other community initiatives that strengthen her work in advancing educational equity. With extensive experience facilitating workshops for early childhood teachers and caregivers across the state of Colorado, Cecilia combines her artistic and educational background to provide practical and culturally relevant tools that support children’s learning and social-emotional development.

Liliana Velásquez Del Valle was born in Cali, Colombia, and is currently an early childhood educator in Denver, Colorado. She works with Mile High Early Learning as a facilitator of CDA credential courses, supporting and empowering educators to strengthen the quality of early childhood care. She holds the Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 Level 3 and the Large Center Director Credential, and is pursuing the Trainer Credential through Colorado’s PDIS system to expand her skills and better serve her community, especially those who face barriers to professional development. With a professional philosophy rooted in empathy, commitment, adaptability, and continuous growth, Liliana believes that every educator has the power to transform, that adult learning is key to change, and that work in early childhood shapes healthier, more compassionate, and capable generations.

Christine has been a physical therapist for 24 years. She has specialized in pediatrics and Early Intervention for the past twelve years. Over that time she has worked in early childhood classrooms as well as receiving her Infant Mental Health Endorsement. In 2020, she earned her 200 YTT certificate and went on to teach an after school yoga class to elementary students known as Y.E.S. Yoga - Yoga for Every Student.

Matthew served in dual roles as Chief of Community Systems and Services, and Chief Information Officer, at Child Care Aware of America (formally NACCRRA). In these roles, Matthew led the Child Care Subsidy Programs for the Department of Defense including Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN) and the Exceptional Family Member (EFM) program. As head of Government Solutions, Matthew works with nonprofits and all levels of government leaders, engaging and empowering support for working parents across the nation. As local, regional, and state organizations continue to see the new era of Child Care Benefits for all. Matthew lives in the Washington DC area and spends time talking with Congress on everything child care related. “The future of a successful, re-envisioned, equitable, and just U.S. Child Care system depends on the implementation of interoperable digital technology, benefiting the entire community.

Marisa A. Gullicksrud, LCSW, IMH-E, is an experienced community leader and social worker, trained a Columbia University’s School of Social Work. She has special expertise working with infants, children, adolescents and families who have mental health issues, involvement with child welfare or the juvenile justice systems. She is the Director of IECMH and the Colorado State Clinical Lead for the Child First Program at Invest in Kids. Prior to her employment with Invest in Kids, she acted as the Program Director of Community Based Service and Day Treatment at Denver Children’s Home from 2016-2021. She also worked as a Supervisor of Community Based Psychiatry for the University of Colorado Health from 2006-2016. University Hospital is the academic hospital in the UCHealth system. Within this system she was a faculty member with the Irving Harris Program, specializing in infant mental health and a senior instructor with the Department of Psychiatry with the University of Colorado’s School of Medicine. She is a highly skilled mental health clinician and supervisor fully trained in the evidence based Multi Systemic Therapy and Trauma Focused CBT treatment models with strong work ethic and commitment to team. She has more than fifteen years in leadership roles with advanced management and mental health business skills.

Carolyn Rubenstein the Director of Early Learning and Family Education. In this role, she implements The Incredible Years® and is piloting invest in Play at Invest In Kids. She earned her Master’s in social work and is a licensed clinical social worker. Prior to joining Invest in Kids, Carolyn worked at a mental health center in Colorado Springs providing intensive in-home family therapy, outpatient counseling for children and families, as well as child care consultation and other school based services. It was during this time that she was first trained in The Incredible Years® programs, where she facilitated both IY Basic Parent Groups and Dinosaur School locally in schools. Immediately, Carolyn felt very connected to work with the IY programs and was fortunate to join the IIK team in 2007. Carolyn’s passion is working with parents, children, and teachers of the children. She has seen powerful changes in many children and their parents as a result of participating in programs The Incredible Years® and invest in Play provides.

Elizabeth Milligan Cordova is the Senior Early Childhood Partnerships Manager for TEACH Colorado, where she leads statewide initiatives to expand and support the educator workforce. She also works as an equitable grading coach with Crescendo Education Group and teaches social studies methods as an adjunct instructor at the University of Colorado Denver. Elizabeth holds a Master of Arts in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College.

Robyn Klein, has over 25 years of experience in special education, designing, implementing and coaching others on strength-based interventions and instruction for students with complex behavioral and emotional needs. She has recently founded Affinity Behavioral Allies to continue this work.

Ashley Knox, has 11 years of experience working with students with disabilities in the area of behavior. She is a board certified behavior analyst now working in the public schools to better serve students who need support. She is extremely passionate about socially significant behaviors and helping students gain replacement skills to help them have more successful and meaningful lives!

Diane earned her master’s degree in educational psychology and learner-centered design technology at CU Denver. She has worked in the field of health education and curriculum development for 20+ years. She lives in Denver and enjoys hiking, cycling, cooking, and camping with her two daughters and her dog. In her free time, she also loves watching college basketball.

Emily Maiurro is a senior professional research assistant with the Rocky Mountain Prevention Center. She works on projects promoting the wellbeing of teachers and caregivers. Emily received a bachelor's in elementary education from the University of Iowa and a master's in health promotion from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She lives in Colorado Springs with her husband and three young boys.

Dr. Felicia Durden is a leader in early childhood education and literacy, with over 20 years of experience as a teacher, principal, and state-level administrator. She currently serves as Program Director for Science of Reading at Indiana Wesleyan University and Executive Director of Arizona AEYC. Dr. Durden has taught early childhood education at the university level, overseen statewide literacy initiatives, and led professional development for educators nationwide. Her passion is helping teachers bring the Science of Reading to life in early childhood classrooms to ensure every child becomes a confident and joyful reader.

Maggie Colosimo is the founder of Earth Star Coaching, where she provides individualized training, coaching, and reflective supervision/consultation to parents and educators. Maggie’s work centers on creating support, guidance, and balance while empowering individuals to tap into their intuition and hold joy at the center of their growth. With over a decade of experience in Early Childhood Education and certifications as a trainer, coach, and RC provider, Maggie brings a wealth of knowledge, clarity, and a collaborative approach to her work.

Monica Rollins is a coach and consultant with nearly 20 years of experience in the ECE field, an MA in ECE/SPED, and over 650 hours of training in yoga, somatics, and trauma-informed practices. Monica works primarily with leaders in upper ECE management who are ready to move beyond burnout and step fully into conscious, creative leadership. Hi I'm Brian Barrett (Coach B) and I've been a ECE Physical Education teacher for over 10 years with even more experience as a substitute and para-professional of all grade levels. I';ve also been able to travel and work with children in over 15 countries, and I bring those experiences and cultural experiences into my own pedagogy. I was thankfully able to complete my Masters in Health and Wellness Education in 2022 and I implement the teaching styles and theologies gleaned from that research into my practice as well.

Wendy W. Murawski, Ph.D., was the Executive Director and Eisner Endowed Chair for the Center for Teaching and Learning at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) until 2025 when she retired as Professor Emerita in order to become the full-time CEO for 2Teach Global, an international educational consulting company focused on inclusive education. Formerly a full professor in the Department of Special Education and Director of SIMPACT Immersive Learning, Dr. Murawski is a past national president of the Teacher Education Division of CEC and has received multiple awards, including Fulbright Scholar and CA Teacher Educator of the Year. Dr. Murawski is an internationally recognized speaker, presenting thousands of presentations in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America, and has authored 19 books, 24 book chapters, and numerous peer-reviewed articles on inclusive education. She is known for bringing energy, humor, and practical strategies to all of her presentations.
